Since the invention of the first personal computer, this technology has been man's partner in almost everything that they do. Today, from the most mundane and personal, up to the top-level transactions of social institutions such as the government, computers find its important and seemingly indispensable role that aids if not makes possible certain tasks of the working people. Take for example the radar systems of the international airports that guide the people at the tower in granting go or no go for touchdowns or take offs of tens to hundreds of aircrafts carrying hundreds to thousands of passengers everyday. Without such technology and the computer system that immediately and accurately translates the reading and timing of movements of these aircrafts, it would be unimaginable how to determine if one airplane can be on the runway without being hit by another plane touching down in a few minutes. Accurate touchdowns would even be a big trouble since the airplane might just slip off from the right touchdown lane and result in catastrophic ends.
Although in the example, it would not be a problem if just like before there are only one or two small planes to land and take off from the airport. But since today, not only do airports have hundreds of planes landing and leaving but there also exists the threats of weather disturbances. Hence, it just logically follows that indeed, computers and technology that forecasts accurate weather conditions, provide and determine exact calculations for the place and time for planes to land and take off, and many more to keep the air transport system safe and sound, especially for the general public.
Even in the personal and small-scale undertakings such as keeping in touch with one's family when you are abroad for business trips or for some work. International communication has been made easy, fast, and affordable due to computer and technology. Cooking does not have to be burned since computerized rice cookers and ovens can now accurately calculate the time and amount of heat to provide for your food to make it smell delicious and well-cooked. One need not also search the whole library building to know the author of a single passage or statement whom one has forgotten and must know immediately for proper referencing. With the aid of encyclopedia softwares or better yet through the Internet, just by simply typing the said statement or passage, specific countless results become readily available for the researcher's consideration.
Indeed, the functionality and assistance of computers and technology have become an inseparable part of a modern man. Almost all forms of activities that we do involve the functions of a computer and technology. There is nothing wrong with this though for as long as these gadgets and devices do not cause the reduction of man's worth and that of his labor. This contention, since the advent of industrial revolution, has been the battle cry of the workers all over the world. Hence, as much as computers and technology have brought great convenience and progress to the way we perform our tasks, they have also significantly challenged certain parts of our being humans.
