Avoid trying to imitate another players stance if it doesn’t feel comfortable. Figure out your most comfortable batting position when you’re not holding the bat.

Remember that baseball is only a game. Yes, it may be important to you and your team, but you don’t want to let it get you down. Even if you make a mistake, if you keep positive there’s always a chance to correct that mistake. But if you let it bother you, chance are you’ll make another mistake.

Build a good relationship with your coach. When you play baseball, the most important authority figure in your life is your coach. Get to know him, and pay attention to the advice that he gives you. Ask questions and be willing to try things his way, and you’re going to be a better player for it.

If you are a first base coach, you have certain responsibilities. Basically, you must encourage the batter to hustle down the first baseline on all infield hits. You also have to remind the runners as to how many outs there are. You must instruct the runner when it is time ti take an extra base, round first base or hold up. You also have to tell runners how far they should go on pop flies.

Don’t let a losing streak get to you. Losing streaks happen in every sport, but in baseball luck can play a very big factor on any given day. Losing streaks can be prolonged over many games. Never let it get you down. Approach each game with an air of self confidence and soon you’ll beat that slump.

If you are in the outfield, learn to read the ball. With practice, you can know approximately where the ball will land each time the ball is hit. Carefully, watch the pitcher so you know the speed of the ball when it crosses the plate. By simply knowing the speed you can judge how far the ball will be hit.

You can lose sight of the baseball because of the stadium lights or the sun. You can look at the ball without getting blinded by the bright lights. For optimum results, spot the baseball by using your peripheral vision.

To keep your fingers from getting hurt while bunting, make sure to keep them on your side of the bat. If you wrap them around the bat, the pitch can hit them. You end up with a painful bunt, with no control over where the ball goes, instead of a nifty sacrifice.

Stay relaxed when trying to catch a ball. A stiff hand always leads to a missed catch. To keep your hand relaxed wear the glove until it feels like it is a part of your hand. If the glove doesn’t fit right, you will miss a lot of catches.

To lay down a successful bunt, keep the head of the bat above the handle. If the head dips down, you are more likely to pop your bunt up. Keeping the head up allows you to bunt the top half of the ball, pushing it down toward the ground.

To throw a runner out at first from the second baseman’s position, mental preparation is more important than strength, because the throw is so short. Prepare your steps so that you follow through with the throw. You have plenty of time to get the runner out, so make sure your throw is accurate.

One thing you must think about as a pitcher is the fact that you must watch runners leading off on base. This is especially important when it comes to preventing second base steals and squeeze plays at home. If you can pick off a runner that is trying to get in your head, then you have done your job.

If you swing slow, choke up on the baseball bat. This just means that you should spike the hands upwards on the bat a bit. This makes for a more quick and compact swing. It will allow you to get up to speed when the pitcher is too fast.

If you want a good knuckleball, you have to hold the seams with just your fingertips. This will allow the ball to release without spin. It will dip and curve and frustrate any hitter you face. When the hitter misses, you win.

Use different signs for pitches when there is a player on second base so that they cannot relay to the batter the pitch you’re going to throw. He can see what signals you are sending because he can see your fingers. Keep changing your signs and you can keep the competition guessing.

When you notice a player is off his base, you can force him out if you can tag him fast with the ball in your hand. You need to be very agile to tag a player. So, prior to playing in a game, you must practice fast takeoffs.

Teamwork is essential for winning. Teamwork includes talking to the players on your team both on the field and off the field. When on the field, let other players know that you are going after a pop fly to help avoid collisions. As you practice together, you will develop way to communicate without speaking.

If you’re trying out for a new team, make sure you’re on time! Always strive to be at least fifteen minutes early for each tryout, as well as any practices and games. Nothing will hurt you more than showing up late to a tryout. And if you show up early, it can only help you.
