Many love coffee, but few know how to brew a great cup. If better tasting coffee is something you want, then you are in the right place. Read on to learn how you can quickly and easily perfect your home brews.

If you are concerned about your waistline or have diabetes, use Stevia in place of sugar. Because Stevia uses all-natural sweetening ingredients, it is a healthy way to lighten up your coffee without adding glucose or calories. You can find it at grocery or health food shops.

Always perform a trial run with any new coffee maker. This simply means that you should run water through the machine as though you were indeed brewing coffee. That way, any dirt and dust it may have accumulated while sitting on the store’s shelf will be removed.

If regular coffee no longer provides you enough caffeine, consider brewing espresso. This does mean you will need a different piece of equipment, as your regular coffee maker likely cannot do it. Espresso machines are typically expensive though, and the intensity of the caffeine levels is too much for some. Try espresso a few times somewhere else before making this commitment for your home.

If you normally drink coffee at home but are getting tired of the same-old tastes, keep an eye open when you pass by coffee shops and houses. Coffee shops have new flavors and drinks they release and test out all the time, particularly seasonally. Summer’s offerings happen frequently, and many even have “happy hour” discounts during deader hours of the day.

Does your tap water tastes bad? It could influence the way your coffee tastes. If your tap water has an unpleasant taste, consider using bottled water to make coffee or get a filter installed on your tap. You will find that your coffee tastes much better if you use cleaner water.

If you do not have a higher-end machine, you can froth milk to put in your coffee. Simply heat the milk in a microwave-safe mug or measuring cup until just steaming. Put a whisk inside the cup, then rub quickly the handle between the palms of your hands. Keep going until the milk turns frothy. Half and Half or whole milk works the best.

Now matter how badly you need a caffeine fix, don’t pour your coffee until it is fully brewed. Some machines let you do that, but your coffee is going to suffer. Buy a programmable coffee maker. Your coffee will be ready for you when you arise from your slumber.

If your morning coffee does not taste right, keep in mind that bad-tasting water will produce bad-tasting coffee. If your tap water consistently tastes bad, purchase a filter to add to the tap. You could use a pitcher that filters your water, or use bottled water to make your coffee.

If you can’t find the coffee flavor you like, try mixing different blends. Coffee shops are usually helpful by recommending brands that blend together nicely, and usually offer samples.

Coffee can be used in place of water in many recipes an interesting flavor. Try substituting cooled, brewed coffee for water in cakes, brownies and other baked treats. Coffee has even been known to add an interesting flavor to a pot of chili. Use your imagination and come up with some ideas of your own!

Buy new coffee beans every two weeks. Once you open coffee beans, they usually don’t have a set expiration date. You can seal them in airtight containers to keep them fresh longer. You will, however, likely find that the quality of the taste starts to fade a bit after two weeks.

You don’t have to waste money on fancy coffees. Unless you’re really picky, it’s unlikely that you’ll notice a great difference between blends of coffee. Often, the plainest coffees will be the ones you enjoy most. There is nothing wrong with buying cheap coffee if it satisfies your coffee needs.

Adapt your coffee to water ratio in function of the technique you are using to brew your coffee. A Technivorm or a vacuum pot will require you to use more coffee grounds than a French press or a drip machine. Drip machines are actually the cheapest way to make coffee but you will get a better flavor with other techniques.

Purchase a coffee maker that brews into a thermal carafe or pot. If you are the type of person who likes to nurse your coffee, this allows you to enjoy hot coffee for as long as you want to spend drinking it. This also keeps the coffee tasting good and not losing its flavor.

To give brownies, frosting, or other chocolaty treats more depth and complexity, add coffee. The type of coffee depends on the recipe. In some cases, you can replace some of the liquid with cooled, brewed coffee. In other recipes, a couple of teaspoons of instant coffee granules or very finely ground coffee is better.

Try pre-wetting coffee filters. This helps heat glass and ceramic brewers, along with rinsing away extra flavors that dry paper filters may transfer into your cup. Start by opening up the filter, then placing it in your cone brewer with a pitcher or coffee mug underneath. Finish by pouring some near-boiling water through it in order to wet all of the sides.

Stay away from those open coffee bins at the supermarket. You have no idea how long the coffee has been there, or how fresh it is. It is highly possible that you might end up with stale coffee that makes a mediocre cup of coffee. Try instead to get your coffee straight from the roaster, who knows how fresh the coffee is.

When making iced coffee, be sure to plan ahead. There are many recipes that call for hot coffee to make iced coffee, but you will have frostier coffee if it is thoroughly chilled first. Avoid leaving it out too long. You just need it out long enough to be at room temperature. After that, place it in the fridge to cool.

If you really love coffee, you also really hate bad coffee. If you use the tips from this article, making perfect coffee will be simple. You no longer have to settle for tasteless, bland, watered down or bitter coffee. Enjoy!

Fresh coffee beans taste better than anything you can buy in stores. Did you know you could roast your own beans and enjoy fresh coffee every day? You can easily roast your own beans by placing them in your oven or using a heat gun. Buy some cheap beans to practice.

Buy a coffee grinder, and buy whole bean coffee. There is no substitute for the taste of freshly ground beans. If you can’t afford a coffee grinder, you can still buy whole beans. Most supermarkets have grinders that you can use to grind your coffee purchase before you leave the store.
