Be sly on your soles to catch rebounds from free-throws your own team members are making. Use your feet to slip around the opposing player below you, then get into position for a rebound off the rim. This helps you avoid the foul call and also grab the rebound.

Box out every opportunity that you can. If you do not box out, you are going to find yourself sitting warmly on the bench after every break. When the rebound is there, take charge and get the coach’s attention with your awesome skill. Work this out in practice and apply it during the game.

To win the game you need to take good shots. Good shots are when you have an open arc to the goal with a high-percentage of scoring. No other players on your team should have a better shot than the one you are taking. Otherwise, it’s not a good shot.

Be sure to keep your knees bent while you dribble. Standing while dribbling will make it much easier for the opponent to steal the ball from you. You only need to bend your knees slightly to improve your control of the basketball.

When playing defense, practice slapping the ball up instead of down. If you slap the dribble down, the offensive player will have a better chance of regaining control of the ball. If you slap up at the dribble instead, it is much harder for the player to regain control of the ball.
