Starting early will instill the importance of this responsible in your child, keeping them safe and sound as they walk to school or accompany you to the store.

One of the most important tips for all parents to remember is patience. Positive parenting is a great practice to follow because it allows for structure and discipline for the child. Parents that practice positive parenting methods focus on the good things that their child is doing rather than the negative. Do not forget to praise your children when they behave well. Children need affection and attention. If they don’t get it by behaving, they’ll misbehave. When children act out negatively, it is often the result of parents neglecting to provide adequate attention during periods of good behavior.

When you tell your kids you are going to do something, then do it. If you show your children you aren’t consistent with what you say you are going to do, they will learn to ignore what you say. This can lead to problems such as your children not trusting you.

To foster an environment where reading is encouraged, make sure a child is surrounded with books from a young age. When your child is open and honest with you, praise him for his openness and honesty. This will encourage him to talk to you about anything that is on his mind, and reinforce the bond between the both of you. Your child will feel more secure knowing that he can come to you at anytime to discuss anything that is bothering him.
