Not every craving you have, while pregnant, should be satisfied. Your unborn child had nutritional needs for healthy development. While you might get some gratification from eating whatever you crave, it could possibly be detrimental to your child’s needs, so it’s important to keep eating a balanced diet.

It is important to love and appreicate your body when you are pregnant. By not appreciating it, you could cause yourself unnecessary stress or even depression. Keep in mind that once you have your baby, you can work on getting your body to look the way it did before you were pregnant.

Eat plenty of fruit during your pregnancy. Many women get a boost of energy during the day from caffeine products; since these are not recommended during pregnancy, try fruit instead. People who consume bananas and apples, often notice an increase in their energy levels. This comes from the natural sugars that these fruits contain.

Call your doctor for anything that seems “off”. You know your body better than anyone and if something doesn’t feel right, then use that intuition and give your practitioner a call. They will decide if it’s something they need to check out or not, but don’t hesitate to seek help.

Eat five or six well-balanced meals every day. This will help you to get all the nutrition that you need, as well as the calories. You should not be eating junk food all day. There is no nutritional value in that, and the only thing it will do for you is put on extra pounds.

Be sure to find a good prenatal vitamin. In many cases your doctor will prescribe the best one for you but you can also find them over the counter. Be sure that it has at least 0.4 mg of folic acid in it. You may also want to look for an additional source of iron to take while you are pregnant.

Although it might sound odd, you need to avoid all cat litter while you are pregnant. Cat feces can contain a parasitic disease called toxoplasmosis that can cause damage to unborn children. Don’t risk your baby’s health, so just avoid the cat litter altogether.

For a healthy pregnancy avoid harsh chemicals like bleach and other household cleaners. These tasks can be delegated to a trusted family member such as your husband or older children. Pregnant women should also avoid get their hair colored or permed during the first trimester when the baby’s organs are developing.

Although it can be fun, when decorating your baby’s nursery avoid painting or putting up wallpaper while you are pregnant to avoid the harmful fumes. Have your partner or some friends to take care of those jobs, and stay out of the room until the paint or wallpaper glue dries and the room is fume-free.

Manage your stress level while pregnant by writing task lists and keeping your priorities in check. Perhaps your friends or family can help you out by completing some of the items. You may also realize, once you see things written down, that you can take a few items off of your list.

Put your birth plan in writing and share it with your doctor before you go into labor. Having your plan in writing helps you focus on the type of delivery you want and helps your doctor understand what you want. Even though unexpected events can result in changes, having your plan documented gives you peace of mind before going into labor.

There are foods to avoid eating when pregnant, as they can harm the child. Unpasteurized milk, raw seafood and some cheeses are best left alone until after your baby is born.

If you are pregnant, you should quit smoking right away. There are many side effects that come from smoking and it is proven that it can have detrimental effects on an unborn child. You could cause extensive damage to your child or even, have a miscarriage, if you choose to smoke while you are pregnant.

Take some time for yourself, and use the advice here to make yourself more comfortable and more relaxed. Knowing what you can do and what you should avoid during your pregnancy will give you the tools that you need to be stress free. Being stressed is not good for you or your baby, so heed this advice.
