To try for a spot on your desired main soccer team, try to show off a combative spirit. Never quit, defend and attack, work with your team, run down and up the field, and show off an attitude that’s inspiring. Show the coach your devotion to the team, and you will increase the chances you will be selected.

You always want to keep the other team guessing what you are going to do next. Dribble to the right and then rush to the left. The person defending you will probably not expect this; as a result, you can evade him and quickly find an open route. Practice these moves in advance so that your teammates are anticipating the pass and aren’t caught off guard.

If your opponent is running a tight defense, triangulate to break through it. Playing as a team is very important, including lots of passing to confuse your opponents. Use a team effort and short and effective passes to push through the tight field. Always be ready to help a teammate who is attempting to accomplish the same thing.

One way to help increase speed is to increase your resistance when exercising. This can be accomplished by using a stationary bicycle. When you are riding your stationary bike, increase the resistance to maximum and cycle slowly. Then, quickly increase your speed and keep the maximum speed up for one minute before slowing back down for five minutes.

You must be able to learn to capitalize on the free kicks. These kicks are usually 20-30 yards away from the goal and keeper. You can score some great goals this way that can make the difference in a game and switch the momentum to your side. While these opportunities only happen occasionally, you must realize the importance of the scoring opportunity without having to continually try to create one.

Watch your favorite professional soccer players in action. This doesn’t mean just catching the game on television. This means focusing on the player, and how they interact and move on the field. Analyze their playing style and learn what they do that makes them one of the best. Try to figure out how to incorporate those moves into your own game.
