The Ins And Outs Of Using The IPad

Have you tried using your iPad for certain things, and it hasn’t quite worked out the way you wanted? Well, it’s probably because you just need a little more help understanding what exactly you can do to make things more efficient. A few tips and tricks should help point you in the right direction.

Apple always examines all of their apps before showing them on the store. This means that you can generally trust the quality of the item you will receive. However, you should at least give a cursory look at the reviews of previous user; this can be done directly from the store.

If you use your iPad to store sensitive information, you can turn on a feature that will delete all this data in case a wrong password is entered ten times. Go to your settings, tap on general and select the pass-code lock feature. Use a password you will not easily forget.

To protect your sensitive data the iPad has a feature that will erase all data if the password is entered incorrectly ten times. To access this feature go to Settings and click Passcode Lock; then click Erase Data. This privacy feature will restore your iPad to its factory default settings.

You can stop annoying Wi-Fi joining messages on your iPad. If you’re tired of getting asked to join various Wi-Fi networks constantly, this can be taken care of under Settings and Wi-Fi. Switch off Ask to Join Networks. You may still join any network that you’ve already got from this screen, you just will not be harassed constantly.

You can block mature content if your child has an iPad. Access the settings menu and limit any mature content that they can view. You can block any material that has been labeled as having adult content and bad language.

The iPad is pre-loaded with lots of apps you have no use for. However, many of these can’t be deleted. Make a folder to store all these useless apps out of the way. That way, you can concentrate on the things you find most useful.

You do not have to access the second screen of your keyboard if you need an apostrophe. You should instead tap and hold the exclamation point key and an apostrophe will appear for you to select. You can also make typing easier by purchasing a wireless keyboard or even a case with a built-in keyboard.

If you are one of those people that likes sharing a lot of the information you find enjoyable with your friends, there is a very easy way to share podcasts. All you have to do is press the Email button while the podcast is open and email it to whoever you like.

You have probably downloaded enough apps by now to be thinking about app notifications and how to control them. Controlling app notifications is under settings and then notification. By accessing this area, you can control which apps send you notifications, where they appear, and how often they appear as well.

The new keyboard is packed full of features, so many that some appear to be hidden. The new apostrophe key is tucked away within the virtual keyboard on the second screen. Press the “!” key for a few moments and you can circumvent this second page page with an immediate apostrophe.

Dim or brighten the screen within the iBooks app itself. Rather than entering the Settings menu while you are reading, select the sun-shaped icon in the upper right of the screen. Use the slider to adjust the brightness of the screen. This shortcut allows you to tweak the brightness without navigating away from your book.

Were you aware that the Google Maps app lets you use the feature “Street View?” Search on it and a red pin will show up on your map. Tap the pin, then choose the person icon. This loads Street View.

The iPad is a great tool for reading. Whether it’s fantasy literature or a college textbook, reading at night can become a bit straining on the eyes. Dimming your iBooks is easily accomplished by changing the brightness setting within the app. This makes nighttime reading far more enjoyable and comfortable.

Do you find yourself using the same phrases over and over? If so, there is an easy way to create shortcuts for your most common phrases. Go to the Keyboard Settings of your iPad and click Add New Shortcut. Type your common phrase in the field named Phrase; then, simply add a shorthand version in the field named Shortcut. For example, if you use the sentence: How are you doing today? Type it in the box and use a shortcut such as haydt. Every time you type “haydt” the iPad will know to type out the complete sentence.

Double tap the word you’d like to copy, it’s as simple as that! But, this is not the ideal method to use if you need to copy a large volume of text. Tap the text you’ve chosen four times to copy the entire paragraph. This can also work for URL’s and addresses too.

If children are going to be using your iPad, you can set parental controls. Go to Settings, General, and then Restrictions. Once in the Restrictions, tap the Enable Restrictions option. This is going to keep your kid from seeing any content that is registered or tagged as adult in nature. Anything adult will be blocked.

Is the battery percentage notification making you crazy? There’s a solution! Go to Settings and then General, click on Usage and set Battery Percentage to Off. This will mean you have to watch your battery charge on your own, but it could save you a ton of annoying notifications down the road.

Maybe you didn’t have a good background of information for using your iPad efficiently before, but now you’re ready! Utilize the advice you’ve read, and continue to expand your knowledge. You will be using your iPad for just about everything. Have fun, enjoy yourself, and take your iPad with you everywhere!

If the battery in your iPad is fully depleted, charge it as quickly as possible. Storing the device for long periods of time with a dead battery can affect its ability to hold a charge in the future. Once per month, allow the battery to run down completely before charging it to 100 percent.

Maximize security by setting your iPad to erase all of your data after ten failed password entry attempts. Navigate to Settings, then General, then Passcode Lock. Select the Erase Data option. Just make sure that you remember your passcode or write it down in a safe place. Make sure that others who have permission to use your device do the same.

Be selective about your notifications. Under the Settings menu, navigate to Notifications. Adjust the settings until you are satisfied with which apps trigger notifications and which ones don’t. This keeps you from being nagged by rarely used apps. It also keeps important notifications from being buried by less important ones.

Unfortunately, the iPad does not have a free satellite navigation feature. However, the map’s direction features works great for driving, walking, and even bus directions. To use it, simply tap on “Directions”, found on the top left corner of the maps app, and you will be given a step-by-step guide to your destination.
