Agility is one of the most important factors in being a great football player. Great exercises to increase your agility are things like running through tires, jumping rope and jumping over cones. A good football player will be someone who can think fast and react quickly. All those exercises involve quick coordination, thinking and speed. If you use them frequently, your agility will quickly improve.

A good tip if you want to improve your football game is to practice as much as you can on your speed. To improve your speed, you need to be sprinting and pushing yourself as hard as you can. Time your speed and keep the distance the same so that you can measure how you’re doing.

Know what kind of equipment you need to play a football game properly. Each player that plays needs shoulder pads, a helmet, cleats, a mouth guard, and football pants. Take the time to get acclimated to the heat before practicing at top levels. The heat can sneak up on you and do severe things to your body, like heat exhaustion and heat stroke. You’ll need to progressively acclimate yourself to it when you first start practicing. Give yourself up to fourteen days before going 100% during your sessions.

Always know what level your playing is at. If you play at a game level higher than your ability, you might play yourself out of that league. However, if you underestimate your skills and ability, you could end up in a level that does not challenge you.

Talk to your coach about your progress. While your coach is more than likely giving you a lot of direction already, talk to him after practice. He might be calmer then, and he may be able to offer you tips about how you can improve. You can ask him about how far you’ve progressed, as well.

It is important that you set goals when it comes to your game. Set daily goals such as working out every single day. Set weekly goals for your stamina or strength. Then set long-term goals for your game play and how great your strategies turn out on the field.

There will be times that opposing teams play rough or target you. If you think that they are deliberately trying to cause you physical harm, tell your coach. Do not retaliate on the field. It could lead to injuries, cause your team penalties and possibly get you thrown out of the game.

Pay attention to where you are on the field at all times. You need to keep your head up and know where the other players and the ball are at all times. This will help you prevent accidental collisions that could injure you or the other player. Never watch the ground while running.
