What is the difference between informative and persuasive speech?

The average audience listening to the speech may not spend a lot of time thinking about the type of speech he hears. After all, is the speech a speech or a speech? In fact, there are many types of statements, each of which has a different purpose. Just because a speaker is proficient in one language does not mean that he is equally effective in another language.

In an informative presentation, you present information to viewers who are usually willing to listen. Your information is not controversial, and your goal is to provide information, rather than trying to change the opinions of anyone. People want them to gain knowledge or insight by listening to your presentation.

The main problem with writing and presenting informative speech is the possibility of information overload. When you're trying to talk about a particular topic, it's hard to know when to stop. When you really like your theme and know something about it, it's natural to try to dissect as much information as possible. However, this is the opposite of what you want. Your audience can only absorb a certain amount of information, and when you add more information, it can frustrate your audience and shut down. If you talk about your topic in more detail with 3-4 points, that's even better. In any case, you will never cover it, it is best to remember that "less is more".

There are examples for every point you choose to cover – preferably a story that draws the attention of the audience and helps personalize the theme.

Persuasive speech from

 : Persuasive speech usually involves a controversial topic. Your goal is to change your beliefs or behaviors, or at least to build a willingness to consider your point of view.

When making a persuasive speech, it's important that you don't condescend or devalue your audience because of their beliefs. If you are a representative of family planning, please mention the audience against abortion, because "doctor killer" will not let anyone believe that your point of view is legal. Show them that those who belong to family planning are rational, knowledgeable, reliable and cute.

Your presentation style should be conversational, just as you talk to your friends about your problems. Make sure you have facts and statistics to support what you say. If the image helps the viewer visualize your information, then use them. Add a call-to-action at the end of the presentation. In the Planned Parenthood example, you might invite this audience to an open tour of the facility before joining the Q&A session. If you can convince the audience members to take this step, your speech will be successful.

Persuasive movements need to be fully prepared. Don't think about it, you can post an effective persuasive speech. This requires a lot of practice and preparation. If you don't show a sincere, knowledgeable, cute and rational change, then no one's opinions can be changed.

Informational presentation

  • Do not overwrite too much information. Choose 3-4 ideas. It is always better to cover less information more thoroughly than just a long list of messages that the viewer will not remember.

The first key to an effective presentation is to make sure you understand exactly what the audience expects. If you are asked to publish an informational speech, their expectation is to learn some type of new information. If you are asked to give a persuasive speech, you will be able to convince you to support your point of view. As with any presentation, the key is to prepare and practice!
